National Nurses United Endorses Congresswoman Cori Bush for Re-Election in Missouri’s 1st District

ST. LOUIS, MO — Today, National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States, announced its endorsement of Congresswoman Cori Bush for re-election in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District.

While in office, Bush fought for patients and health care workers alike by being one of the strongest advocates for Medicare for All and protecting the rights of workers to organize. Now, as she campaigns to win her seat back, NNU has endorsed the Congresswoman for a second time so she can continue her work to fix our broken health care system and build one that puts people over profit.

“I am incredibly proud to once again be endorsed by National Nurses United,” Said Congresswoman Cori Bush. “As the largest union of registered nurses in the country, NNU and I share a vision for a future where all of St. Louis has quality health care under a Medicare for All system, has their reproductive freedom protected, and can enjoy a healthy environment with clean water and clean air. I am honored to stand side by side with NNU as we fight for good-paying union jobs, equitable pay, and safe working conditions.”

“As a nurse, I saw just how broken our health care system is. Corporate greed and special interests prevent patients from getting the care that they desperately need. Far too many people are left behind and forced to choose between suffering the financial burden that comes with receiving care or skipping treatments altogether because the costs are too high. In Congress, I’ll partner with NNU to ensure that our health care system works for everyone — patients and health care workers alike.”

“NNU is proud to endorse Cori Bush, a nurse and talented organizer, to Missouri’s 1st Congressional District,” said NNU President Mary Turner, RN. “While in office, Cori was steadfast in upholding nurses’ values of health care for all, reproductive freedom, clean air and water in our communities, and good-paying union jobs. This election is critical for our patients and the future of our health care. That’s why nurses are standing with Cori, a fighter who is ready to take on powerful special interests in Congress.”

The Congresswoman adds NNU to her growing list of endorsers as she campaigns to win back her seat in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. Bush looks forward to working closely with NNU after she returns to Congress to take on the biggest challenges facing St. Louis’s nurses and patients.
