Congresswoman Cori Bush Raises Over $525,000 Grassroots Dollars in First Three Months of Campaign
ST. LOUIS, MO — Today, Congresswoman Cori Bush announced that her campaign to take back her seat in Missouri's 1st Congressional District raised over $525,000 in her first quarter of fundraising, with an average donation of $25.48 from small dollar email and SMS fundraising — a clear sign of the grassroots momentum behind her as her supporters seek to send a proven advocate for everyday people back to Congress.
In 2024, AIPAC and their allies spent $15 million to unseat her in one of the most expensive Congressional primary races in U.S. history. Congresswoman Bush’s opponent is awash in corrupt cash, with 63% of his donations in the last three quarters bundled by AIPAC, and numerous checks from corporate PACs in his coffers. In contrast, Congresswoman Bush leads a campaign that takes no money from the pro-Israel lobby, the fossil fuel industry, cryptocurrency PACs, or other corporate donors. Her platform is informed by the concerns of the people in St. Louis, rather than by billionaires and corporations. Her vision of a future where all people have quality healthcare, affordable housing, and can afford their basic needs has resonated with a wide range of grassroots donors who want to see a leader who truly represents them back in office.
“I’m deeply humbled by the energy everyday people have brought to this campaign,” said Congresswoman Cori Bush. “We’ve been in community, talking about what actually matters: Medicare for All, reproductive freedom, and an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected. This is people power, and together we’re building the momentum to take on special interests, fight oligarchy, and make sure the people of St. Louis have real representation in Congress.”
“I’m running to return to Congress to deliver resources, relief, and progress for the people of our district. To bring the values of St. Louis to Washington – fighting for affordability, real public safety, and justice without apology. That means standing for human rights for all and confronting Trump’s MAGA Project 2025 agenda head-on, including calling for the abolition of ICE. This movement is made up of people who are tired of being told what can’t be done and are ready for leadership that works for the people.”
“At a moment when freezing temperatures exacerbate the needs of many of our families here in St. Louis who were displaced by last year’s tornado, and when masked federal agents are terrorizing communities with impunity, we need leaders who aren’t afraid to act. I’ve always been that leader, and when I’m back in Congress, I’ll keep standing up, fighting back, and refusing to back down from Trump’s fascism.”
The Congresswoman celebrates early grassroots momentum as she campaigns to win back her seat, with early endorsements from Our Revolution, Justice Democrats, St. Louis DSA, Jewish Voice for Peace Action, Progressive Jews of St. Louis, National Nurses United, and more. She looks forward to returning to Congress and continuing her record of delivering for St. Louis by campaigning on the values that got her there in the first place: an unwavering commitment to addressing the needs of those who feel left behind by politics as usual. She will continue to reject outside influence from corporate donors as she prepares to spend the next several months building a diverse coalition to win and deliver for the people of St. Louis.
